CSI to begin work at new Mecklenburg County Government Facility Recently selected from a list of highly qualified area integrators in the bid process, CSI will begin work on the new Mecklenburg County Government Facility at the old Freedom Mall location on the west side of the city of Charlotte. The property is in the process of a major transformation that will in all likelihood attract other businesses which will provide positive economic outcome for the Freedom Drive area of the Queen City. 

CSI will install a Hubbell Certified Structured Cabling System that will support the county’s internal telecommunication system within the facility. The installed system will support Gigabit transmission and will be performance warranted for a period of 25 years. CSI has been a certified Hubbell Mission Critical Installer for the past 10 years. The majority of the structured cabling system will be installed below the access flooring in compliance with a design that was the vision of Bill Ward, RCDD of Mecklenburg County IST. Bill’s concept came to fruition with the assistance of the XZact Technologies design team, led by Rick Sousa, RCDD. Also part of the structured cabling design and implementation includes an awareness that the county has a desire to renovate the facility with a pro-environmental approach. 

We at CSI are excited about the opportunity to do our part to ensure that the new government center will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

When complete, the installed Hubbell Certified structured cabling system will include Category 6 UTP cabling and laser optimized fiber. CSI is pleased to have been selected by Mecklenburg County for this project. We look forward to the successful cultivation of our new relationship with the county branch of the local government.
